You can just imagine all the major disasters they have encountered wherein they had to save victims from buildings about to collapse or seek for possible survivors underneath the rubbles for many days until they can explore anyone who survived without giving up hope. Some battle out of control forest fires putting hazard to their own lives yet they still get some nasty criticisms about being slow on their goals to put off the fire. Firefighters have to be trained well on performing rescue operations and medical missions involving first aid, CPR, and treatments for some burns before handing them over to the paramedics. They are also required to inform everyone about how to prevent fire, what to do essentially when handling crime scenes, and property protection as well. Strenuous and exhausting, a firefighter job also requires total commitment to a 24/7 duty since the job entails availability of the firefighter as the need arises. They are on call anytime during the day and night so they are always aware that they will have to respond to every duty call such as burning houses, forest fires, disasters like toxic waste spills, earthquakes, and explosions that may cause extensive fire damage.
Educating the public about prevention of fire and safety is a must so they share their experiences to everyone and contribute whatever knowledge they have about safety precautions and causes of fire disasters. They also take shifts in maintaining the vehicles, keeping them clean and in excellent condition. The station should also be kept neat and in order, making sure that every area is clean and sanitized, with the absence of any obstruction along the work passage area. The old and dirty equipments or tools must also be replaced by them as soon as possible ensuring their preparedness in any situation that may arise. Above all this, firefighters should also improve their physical fitness so they are required to perform significant training exercises on a daily basis. Firefighters have duties to carry out and obligations to stick to their principles in savings one’s life above anything else. These are what made firefighters honorable people and they deserve everyone’s respect. I believe that for every good deed they have achieved, they must be given due recognition for a job well done. Risking your life to save someone else’s life is heroic and these firefighters are the modern day heroes we should be thankful for.
